Does “presbyopia” still occur after laser surgery?

Presbyopia is caused by the decline in the adjustment ability of human crystals, generally speaking, from the age of 40, the adjustment ability of human crystals begins to decline, presbyopia occurs, and gradually worsens with age. The glasses are more inconvenient because they require “bifocals” or two pairs of glasses (glasses of different degrees for distance and near vision). Presbyopia does not alleviate myopia. Patients with low myopia may be able to see near objects more clearly than before without myopia glasses, but still see far objects blurred. Therefore, for older myopic patients who want to remove their glasses, they can also undergo excimer laser surgery. Modern excimer laser treatment devices are equipped with special computerized treatment programs, and we can also adjust the surgical plan for this group of patients, so that the onset of presbyopia can be delayed after surgery, or even occur later than normal.
