What is the prognosis for a sinus ulcer?

Depending on the cause, the prognosis for treatment of sinus ulcers varies. For example, sinus ulcers caused by gastritis can be cured with symptomatic treatment and have a good prognosis; most sinus ulcers caused by gastric ulcers can heal after regular, curative treatment and have a low recurrence rate, while patients with recurrent attacks and a long duration of disease have a higher risk of cancer; patients with early stage cancerous ulcers have a high cure rate, while patients with advanced stage have a poor prognosis, with a 5-year survival rate of less than 10%.
