How is deep vein thrombosis caused?

New research confirms that sedentary behavior increases the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Whether the total time spent sitting still is too long in a day, or sitting still for a certain period of time in a day, the risk of DVT increases, and for every additional hour of sitting, the risk of developing blood clots increases by 20%. It is estimated that about 1 in 2,000 of our population suffers from DVT each year. Pregnant women, obese patients, and people who have just undergone surgery are all susceptible to DVT. Speculation on the cause The increasing pressure on the veins of the lower extremities caused by prolonged sitting may be the cause of deep vein thrombosis. The same argument can be used to explain why large numbers of people suffered from fatal blood clots during the war, as people were often forced to sit for long periods of time in bomb shelters to avoid air raids. Being sedentary in a small space causes reduced muscle mobility and a higher chance of developing the disease. How to detect venous thrombosis in the lower extremities as early as possible? The main symptoms of leg swelling and pain caused by deep vein thrombosis are three: swelling, distension and pain. It is usually a single lower limb disease, with the left lower limb being the most common. The main manifestation in the early stage is swelling and pain of the affected limb. The affected extremity has high tissue tone, non-depressed edema, red skin color and higher skin temperature than the healthy side. The site of swelling varies with the site of thrombosis. In patients with iliofemoral vein thrombosis, the entire affected limb is swollen, whereas in patients with calf plexus thrombosis, the swelling is limited to the calf, and in patients with inferior vena cava thrombosis, both lower limbs are swollen. In addition, there is pain and tenderness in the affected limbs, and the pain increases when standing upright. When deep vein thrombosis of the lower extremities is severe, femoral cyanosis occurs, which means that the skin of the affected extremity is shiny, the skin is blue, the skin is cold, there is severe pain, and the arteries of the lower extremity cannot be retrieved. Leg swelling and pain caused by other diseases is often a symmetrical disease of both lower limbs. There is also a difference in the speed of onset. The onset of leg pain caused by deep vein thrombosis is sudden, while the onset of leg pain caused by other diseases is slow. When the above-mentioned manifestations appear, patients should seek medical attention in time for early diagnosis and early treatment in order to achieve better results. How to prevent deep vein thrombosis? If you work in front of a computer or play online for 1-2 hours for a long time, you should stand up and exercise, consciously move your lower limbs, do squatting and other actions to speed up the blood flow in the lower limbs; if you are bedridden for a long time, you can massage your lower limbs frequently to promote blood circulation, and you can wear elastic stockings at ordinary times. In addition to improving circulation, it can also reduce the occurrence of new varicose veins and thrombosis; in terms of diet, you should eat a high-fiber, low-fat diet and strengthen the supplement of vitamin C and E; in terms of daily life, you should control your weight, avoid taking birth control pills, avoid wearing tight clothing and high-heeled shoes, avoid stretched legs and prolonged sitting or standing; before going to bed every day Elevate your legs for a period of time before going to bed and sleep on your left side to reduce the pressure on the pelvic veins. Smoking can increase blood pressure and damage arteries and veins, so quit smoking.
