If HIV infection is not treated, the survival time of patients depends on the type of virus, the mode of infection, the physical condition of the infected person and other factors, most of them can survive for 2-10 years, a few can survive for more than 10 years, and very few of them can be incubated for a long time without the onset or slow onset.
Patients infected with HIV usually go through an incubation period of 5-8 years, with a few patients having an incubation period of only a few months, and then enter the onset of AIDS, when their immunity decreases to a certain level and various opportunistic infections or tumors may appear, at which time the average survival time of patients is only 1-1.5 years. A few patients with slow progression can survive for more than 10 years. In the case of congenital HIV infection or childhood HIV infection, due to the immaturity of the immune system, the disease progresses rapidly and if left untreated, death is most likely to occur before the age of 5, or as early as within one year.
Therefore, after HIV infection is diagnosed, patients should be treated with antiviral drugs as soon as possible, and their diet should be adjusted with high-calorie, high-vitamin foods.
