What happens after subtotal facial nerve decompression?

1.The pressure of the facial nerve in the bone canal is released, and the facial nerve cells are no longer progressing toward ischemic necrosis. 2, The most critical thing after the sub-total decompression surgery is that the microcirculation of the facial nerve starts to recover, and the drugs for nerve regeneration can reach the affected area directly. 3.The open facial nerve bone canal will be wrapped by new soft tissue after 2 weeks. 4.After the operation, all of them will feel stuffy and tinnitus in the ear. Individuals may feel the sensation of water inside the ear. This is a normal feeling. It usually recovers in 2 to 3 weeks after surgery. This is because the outer ear canal is stuffed with antibiotic gauze and some blood will accumulate in the middle ear cavity. 5. Some patients may feel a small amount of blood flowing from the pharynx to the mouth within 2 to 5 days after surgery, which turns dark red and rusty one after another. This is also a manifestation of blood accumulating in the middle ear cavity and being discharged because there is a connecting channel between the middle ear cavity and the nasopharynx in our humans, called the Eustachian tube. This is because the sensory nerve of the auricle was cut off when the incision was made, which may be fully recovered 3-6 months after surgery. 7. Compared with the healthy ear, the auricle on the operated side is slightly protruding, which is called “standing ear”. 8.After the operation, the infusion will be given for 7 days. The dressing is usually opened for dressing change in 3 days, the stitches are removed and discharged from the hospital in 7 to 8 days after surgery, and the gauze in the ear canal is withdrawn within 2 weeks after surgery. 9.The surgery itself has no special complications and there are no food contraindications. 10.Light physical labor is allowed 4 days after surgery, and heavy physical labor and collision with the ear are avoided for 3 weeks 11.The surgery does not affect bathing, but we recommend washing your hair 3 days after the stitches are removed. 12. 2 months after surgery, you’d better come to me for a review, or to the otolaryngology department of the hospital where you live to review the wound and ear canal. 13.It is normal for the facial muscle to show rapid recovery within 2 months after surgery, some people will be a little slower than others, this does not need to be compared, it depends on the final result.
