What is H. pylori infection

Helicobacter pylori (Hp) is the cause of gastritis, gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers and other diseases, and is closely associated with the development of gastric cancer, among others. Tests for gastric Hp infection include both invasive and non-invasive methods. Non-invasive tests include serum antibody test, fecal H. pylori antigen test, urea carbon 13 (13 C) breath test and urea carbon 14 (14 C) breath test, etc. Among them, serum antibody test and fecal Hp antigen test require patients to draw blood or keep stool, which is cumbersome, while urea carbon 14 breath test is convenient and quick, but it is not easy to perform. The urea carbon 14 breath test is convenient and quick, but the use of radionuclide carbon 14 makes the patient concerned.
