How to treat foreskin edema

Treatment of foreskin edema includes local treatment and medication. Foreskin edema is a localized angioedema of the foreskin, mostly seen in children or adolescents, often due to masturbation or playing with the penis. Foreskin edema mainly manifests itself as a sudden occurrence, and in severe cases, it is mostly transparent and easily occurs at the tip of the penis or the first 1/3 of the foreskin. For treatment, cold compresses or cold water immersion of the penis are often taken to slowly reduce the swelling and promote the absorption of exudate. If the edema is severe, oral antihistamine or prednisone 20mg/d can be taken. If the attack is short and the swelling is absorbed quickly, oral medication is not needed. If the edema is caused by foreskin imbedding, you must go to the hospital to reset it in time. It is also important to prevent foreskin edema, which often occurs repeatedly and many times in patients. You can watch children forbid playing with the penis and avoid strong stimulation of masturbation. Frequent rinsing of the glans and coronal sulcus with cold water to remove foreskin scale can also reduce recurrence. Circumcision is recommended for multiple recurrences. In summary, the treatment of foreskin edema is still based on local treatment. Oral medications are chosen as appropriate depending on the severity. Prevention and treatment are both important. The recurrence of foreskin edema can be considered circumcision, preferably after the edema has subsided.
