The most effective treatment for teratomas is surgical removal. Teratomas are mainly associated with congenital abnormalities during embryonic development and may occur in the reproductive system, such as the female ovaries, or in other parts of the body. They usually develop during the neonatal period or infancy, but the growth rate is slow and there are no obvious clinical symptoms, thus delaying the diagnosis. The majority of teratomas are benign, although malignant lesions may occur in some cases. Once a teratoma is diagnosed, surgery is the treatment of choice, and pathological examination is routinely performed after surgery. If malignant tendency is found, chemotherapy should be given and regular postoperative review should be done. After the surgery, the diet should be as light and easy to digest as possible, avoid eating cold and spicy food, and avoid smoking and drinking alcohol.
