Congenital microtia is currently waiting until the age of 6 before surgery is performed. The child needs to be 120 cm in height and 60 cm in chest circumference, and we use the water-infused skin expansion method, which involves 3 surgical procedures. The first operation is to bury a 50ml water bladder (i.e., soft tissue skin expander) in the mastoid area behind the residual ear, and the hospital stay is about 4 days. The cost is about 7000. After the second surgery, the expander is removed and the ear is reconstructed by sculpting the ear scaffold from autologous rib cartilage according to the size of the healthy side of the ear. The cost is about 20,000. After a year between the third surgery, the outer ear is reshaped according to the residual ear, and the hospital stay is about 7-10 days. The total cost is about 17,000. All of the above costs are approximate costs for hospitalization, and the total cost is about 50,000.
