What is cervical spondylosis?

Cervical spondylosis is the general term for a series of symptoms caused by the compression or stimulation of cervical nerve roots, vertebral artery, spinal cord and sympathetic nerve due to cervical strain and degeneration. In recent years, due to the popularity of computers, the pressure of work and study has increased, and people’s sitting time has gradually increased, the occurrence of cervical spondylosis is becoming younger and younger. Although cervical spondylosis is located in the cervical spine, its symptoms can appear in the head and neck, thoracic and back parts, and some also affect the heart, blood pressure, vision, hearing, etc. Its symptoms are complex and diverse, and the treatment method is also more special, so the cervical spondylosis must go to the regular Chinese medicine hospital massage department or orthopedic injury department to do standard diagnosis and treatment, so as not to delay the disease. Common diagnosis and typing of cervical spondylosis: 1, cervical type (or falling pillow type): the most common clinically, the symptoms are light. Mostly recurrent episodes of neck, shoulder and back soreness, plate tightness, stiffness and pain. It is often the pre-expression of other types of cervical spondylosis. Early treatment is of positive significance for the prevention and treatment of cervical spondylosis. 2. Nerve root type (or paralysis type): The most important symptom of the patient is numbness of the upper limbs or fingers. It is caused by stimulation of the brachial plexus nerve. 3.Spinal cord type (or impotence type): Weakness or abnormal sensation in the limbs are mostly seen, and both feet may have the feeling of stepping on cotton. This is due to compression of the spinal cord. 4.Vertebral artery type (or vertigo type): vertigo is the main symptom, and in mild cases, dizziness and lightheadedness are seen, due to affecting the blood supply of vertebral artery. 5.Sympathetic type (or five senses type): The symptoms of this type of cervical spondylosis are complex and diverse. Because the sympathetic nerve in the neck not only innervates the head, the five senses and other organs, but also enters the thoracic cavity through the branches to innervate the thoracic organs and even affects the abdominal organs, and also affects the peripheral vasodilation and sweating function. Therefore, stimulation of sympathetic nerves can lead to dysfunction of glands, blood vessels and internal organs in the corresponding areas of the body. 6.Mixed type: If the above two types or more than two types appear clinically, it can be diagnosed as mixed type cervical spondylosis. Cervical spondylosis is prone to recurrence, and the key to treatment is to prevent re-occurrence, therefore, in addition to treatment, the usual self-exercise conditioning has an irreplaceable role. Warning symptoms: Pain: It is often the earliest and common symptom, often accompanied by stiffness and discomfort in the neck, which may involve the back of the shoulder, and may also be manifested as inexplicable discomfort in the upper limbs, generally aggravated by exertion and slightly relieved by rest. Numbness: It is one of the early manifestations of cervical nerve compression, and the degree and extent of numbness can reflect the location and degree of cervical nerve compression. When the nerve compression is severe, muscle atrophy or weakness may follow. Dizziness and headache: It is a common manifestation when cervical spondylosis affects the blood supply to the brain, and can also be manifested as insensibility, heaviness in the head, insomnia, forgetfulness, or even the manifestation of vertigo with spinning in the sky.
