What are the symptoms of paediatric diarrhoea?

Paediatric diarrhoeal disease is a very common group of illnesses that are characterised by gastrointestinal symptoms such as increased frequency and volume of stools and a thinner than usual consistency. It may be associated with nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain and bloating, and loss of appetite. In addition, severe cases may also be accompanied by fever, poor mental health or even coma. Symptoms of dehydration, such as low urination and restless thirst, may also occur and prompt medical attention is needed in these cases.
