The time to recover from bronchopneumonia cough is related to the type of pathogenic bacteria, the severity of the disease and the physical condition of the patient. Bronchopneumonia, also known as lobular pneumonia, is a purulent inflammation of the bronchi, mostly caused by bacterial infection. After active anti-infective, cough suppressant and expectorant treatment is given, the cough symptoms usually gradually resolve in 1-2 days and can be recovered in 1-2 weeks. Bronchopneumonia caused by specific pathogenic infections, such as viral infections or mycoplasma infections, has a slightly longer cough duration. The recovery time is prolonged in patients who are old and frail or who have a combination of multiple underlying diseases. Some patients with bronchopneumonia still have cough symptoms at a later stage, mainly due to bronchoalveolar mucosal congestion and edema that have not completely dissipated. They can continue to take lung-clearing and phlegm-transforming drugs and, if necessary, nebulizer inhalation therapy, which can promote sputum excretion and accelerate the disappearance of cough symptoms.
