Why do children have runny noses?

If the child just has a runny nose without other uncomfortable symptoms, then it is likely to be a normal physiological phenomenon and there is no need to worry too much. The nasal cavity of children is not yet mature, the nasal cavity is small, the nasal mucosa is rich in blood vessels, and there are more secretions. At the same time, the regulation function of pediatric nervous system is not yet complete, and children do not clear their own nasal discharge, so they are prone to frequent runny nose. However, if the following conditions occur, we should pay attention to check: a large amount of clear water-like nasal discharge in a short period of time may be caused by contact with cold air or allergy caused by inhalation of pollen or dust; viral cold and flu will also flow clear nasal discharge and nasal congestion, yellow nasal discharge may be combined with bacterial infection; frequent flow of white nasal discharge may be a lack of vitamin A and vitamin B; long-term flow of pus-like yellow-green nasal discharge, we should pay attention to sinusitis; if a foreign body is stuffed into the nostrils If a foreign body is stuffed into the nostrils, the child will also have nasal congestion, breathlessness and irritability. Prevention of pediatric runny nose usually should develop good hygiene habits. To learn to clean the nasal cavity, that is, in the running water with the hand under the nostrils rubbing, and from time to time blow the nose, but also available warm wet wipes cover the root of the nose. Usually keep the air fresh, reasonable nutrition, so that children get a good immunity. Children with rhinitis have more nasal snot, and children generally do not blow their noses properly or do not blow their noses cleanly, so parents need to master the correct way to help their children clear their nasal cavity of snot. People are used to using handkerchiefs or paper towels to pinch the child’s double nostrils to blow their nose, which can cause snot to flow backwards into the sinuses, causing bacteria to infect the sinuses and making the child susceptible to sinusitis, teaching everyone the correct way to help children blow their nose. Steps/methods to blow your nose correctly: 1. Choose a soft, non-irritating handkerchief or paper towel. 2, parents take the prepared handkerchief or tissue to the baby’s nose, first use a finger to press one side of the nose, so that the nasal cavity on that side is blocked, let the baby close his mouth and forcefully blow out the snot. Then use your thumb and index finger to align the sides from the bottom of the nostril to the middle and wipe the snot away, alternating between the two sides. 3.After a few times, you can let your baby hold a handkerchief or tissue and practice with the help of parents. After repeated training, babies close to two years old can not only learn to blow their noses, but also wipe away the snot they blow. 4, when teaching babies to blow their noses, parents should personally demonstrate to the baby, if the child’s method is incorrect, parents should not go to scold the child, should explain to the child the reasons, so that children from childhood to develop good habits of hygiene. Note: 1. Be sure not to let your child blow his nose too hard. 2. Parents should not force their children to blow their noses when they can’t. 3, do not blow your nose directly with your hand, but use a soft tissue or handkerchief. 4. Clean up the nasal cavity in time when snot accumulates there.
