Symptoms of pharyngitis include pharyngeal pain, ulceration, congestion and so on. Clinically, the inflammation of mucosal tissue occurring in the pharyngeal isthmus area is called pharyngitis, and there are several types of pharyngitis with specific symptoms as follows:
1. Herpetic pharyngitis: common in children, manifested as pharyngeal red congestion, scattered rice-white herpes in the pharyngeal isthmus, redness and swelling around the herpes, pharyngeal and oral pain, loss of appetite or refusal to eat, herpes breaks out to form ulcers in about 3 days, and then enter the recovery period.
2. Ulcerative membranous pharyngitis: manifested as pharyngeal pain, yellow or grayish-white pseudomembrane in the pharynx, unilateral is common, swabbing off the pseudomembrane after the exposure of the ulcer, and there are small bleeding spots, the patient will also have a headache, arthralgia, and low-grade fever and other conditions.
3. Infectious mononucleosis pharyngitis: due to EBV infection, symptoms of pharyngeal obstruction, pharynx and soft palate diffuse congestion of mucous membranes, tonsils red and swollen with pseudomembrane formation, can be gently swabbed.
4. Granulocyte deficiency pharyngitis: patients with this disease have a significant reduction of white blood cells in the peripheral blood, and granulocytes are extremely deficient, the patients show obvious pharyngeal pain, pharyngeal isthmus necrotic ulcers, dark brown pseudomembrane on the surrounding tissues are pale and ischemic.
5. Leukemia pharyngeal isthmus: this disease is caused by leukemia cell infiltration, manifested as petechiae and ecchymosis visible in the pharynx and under the mucosa of the oral cavity, swelling, ulceration or necrosis of the mucous membrane, and swelling and pallor of the gums.
