Why early formal rehabilitation is needed after orthopedic surgery?

It is often said that “it takes a hundred days to recover from a fracture”. In fact, this is a big misconception. One month after surgery is important for the recovery of limb function, and too much time will make rehabilitation more difficult and less effective. For example, some fracture patients, because the joint has been fixed for too long, did not timely rehabilitation training, more than two months will delay the time, increasing the difficulty of rehabilitation, more than three months or even often cause permanent difficult to recover joint adhesions and contractures. Rehabilitation is a systematic “project” and is completely different from simple home exercises. Rehabilitation is a teamwork medical system, which usually consists of a rehabilitation physician to assess the patient’s functions, and a physical therapist and an occupational therapist to conduct exercise training and functional training (most of these are active treatments in which the patient actively participates), together with passive stimulation such as acupuncture and massage to enhance the treatment and the sound, light, electricity, heat and wave effects of physical therapy to maximize the rehabilitation effect.
