Osteoarthritis is a benign disease. Most degenerative joint diseases progressively involve multiple joints with age and get progressively worse, and are relatively non-disabling. Non-surgical treatment is designed to achieve the goals of stopping progression, reducing joint pain and stiffness, preventing joint deformity, and improving joint motion and stability; surgery may be considered for individual patients with progressive disease of a single joint, severe loss of joint function due to pain, limited motion, joint deformity and intra-articular disorders. Comprehensive treatment principles should be adopted in conservative treatment. 1. Rest Reduce joint pressure so that synovial inflammation disappears. In acute attacks, it is best to put the affected joint to rest in bed in order to relax the joint capsule and ligaments, which is conducive to inflammation subsidence. 2. Moderate joint activity To prevent joint capsule contracture, the joint should undergo full range of motion several times a day. Vigorous exercise will lead to the possibility of significant pressure on the joint surface and must be avoided. 3.Use a cane to reduce the vertical load on the weight-bearing joints. If the osteoarthritis is in progress or the joint is bilaterally affected, a bilateral cane or crutches are required. 4.Physiotherapy Do heat therapy after daily massage and functional exercise. 5.Posture Maintain a good mechanical posture and avoid any excessive posture to avoid damage to the joint. 6.Medication Use the necessary Chinese and Western medicine under the guidance of the doctor.
