The causes of shortness of breath in newborns while suckling include the following. First, it is due to a normal physiological reaction, because when a newborn is sucking, the force is very strong, and the child can only suck out the milk effectively when the force is relatively strong. The child exerts too much force, which can cause a faster heartbeat and faster breathing, the same reason as adults running. In this case, the child will be in a better state of mind after eating the milk and the breathing will slowly settle down, so parents need not worry too much. Secondly, it is caused by neonatal pneumonia, where the child not only has shortness of breath while breastfeeding. If the child’s shortness of breath does not improve significantly after the milk intake stops, the child should be given timely anti-infection and phlegm treatment.
