What to do if your toddler has a fever and shortness of breath

If your baby has a fever with shortness of breath, you should take your baby to the hospital immediately and ask your doctor to help find the cause of the fever. Shortness of breath may be accompanied by bronchitis, pneumonia, etc. In severe cases, hospitalization is required; in mild cases, medication may be taken home and observed. Ancillary tests may also be needed to assist in diagnosis and treatment, such as blood tests, CRP and other infection indicators, and chest radiographs to help confirm the presence of bronchitis and pneumonia. If shortness of breath is no longer present after the fever has subsided, it may be due to a slight increase in breathing caused by the fever alone and is not a cause for concern. However, if shortness of breath persists after the fever has subsided, it is important to seek immediate medical attention.
