Frequent eyelid jumping may indicate a terrible disease is quietly invading 2015-04-03 Wang Yunpeng, Department of Functional Neurosurgery, Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University In our daily life, we may have encountered the situation of sudden eyelid jumping. For this reason, people will joke that “the left eye jumps for wealth, the right eye jumps for disaster.” In fact, if the eyelid jumping occurs frequently, you should pay attention to it. Because, this may indicate a terrible disease is quietly invading. (⊙o⊙) …, too terrible, I have often eyelid twitching recently ……. So this eyelid jumping frequently, what disease is suffering from? A few days ago, the station’s “Three Lives” invited Professor Wang Yunpeng, deputy chief physician of functional neurosurgery at Xuanwu Hospital, affiliated with Capital Medical University, to answer the question. Facial muscle spasm is uncontrollable, especially by the patients themselves. It occurs mostly in middle-aged women and increases in incidence with age. And the facial nerve and its level of excitement can induce a crooked mouth, or what we call facial palsy. However, as Wang said, facial spasm is not life-threatening; it only affects the appearance. However, the social and psychological factors brought about by facial palsy can affect the patient’s mood and nervousness even more, causing the condition to enter a vicious cycle. Therefore, it is important to relax when suffering from this disease to help the condition get better and recover as soon as possible. So, can eyelid jumping indicate facial muscle spasm? Mr. Wang explained that the beating of the eye is only a spontaneous self-discharge, and its beating does not lead to facial spasm. The cause of facial muscle spasm is arterial or vascular compression of the facial nerve. Facial muscle spasm is when the facial throbbing is prolonged, such as a week of continuous throbbing or a month of throbbing, then it is important to pay attention and seek prompt medical attention. Occasional squeezing of the eyebrows does not directly cause facial spasms. Therefore, adults at home should not overly worry and blame the children at home, lest the rebellious psychology has caused the opposite effect. Wang suggested that parents can appropriately divert the attention of the children to forget that for a long time, children will not deliberately squeeze some expressions.
