What happens when warts become severe?

Condyloma acuminatum is prone to recurrent attacks, and recurrent attacks can affect a person’s psychological health and quality of life. Human papillomavirus and certain malignancies are closely related. Regional warts of the vulva, vagina, penis or perianal area can transform into squamous carcinoma and this transformation usually takes 5-40 years. The process may be that the virus causes benign proliferation, which progresses through different stages of concave cell atypical interstitial transformation to obscure carcinoma in situ and finally to malignancy. In particular, there is a clear correlation between high-risk human papillomavirus infection in women and the incidence of cervical cancer.
