Thyroid 4b does not mean that it is the initial manifestation of cancer, nor does it mean that the thyroid nodule is necessarily malignant. 4b is one of the four levels of thyroid staging, representing a nodule with two signs of malignancy and a risk of malignancy of between 10% and 50%. If the biopsy suggests malignancy, the patient needs to undergo surgery in time to avoid delaying the disease; if the cytology result is negative, the patient is advised to follow up closely and regularly, and can have an ultrasound examination once every 3-6 months to observe the changes in the nodule. Once the malignant signs of nodules increase, suggesting an increased chance of malignancy, timely treatment is also needed.
