How the joints of the elderly should be protected

Generally, after the age of 40, the functions of the whole body begin to decline, and this is especially true for the joints of the waist and legs, which carry more weight. After the age of 40, people may experience joint discomfort if they get a little wind or walk a little more. In fact, aging is also in line with the laws of nature, since the joints have declined after middle age, in addition to finding the right way to exercise, the elderly should save their joints. Exercise can strengthen the body less sick, so some elderly people with back and leg pain also think that strengthening exercise waist and legs is good for their back and leg pain. In fact, this idea is not right. The elderly people with back and leg pain are mostly caused by joint degeneration, whose pathology is based on the damage of joint cartilage; if the joint exercise is strengthened, it will inevitably aggravate the further damage of joint cartilage and further aggravate the joint pain symptoms. Low back pain does also need to exercise, but must pay attention to the way to exercise, try to reduce the burden on the joints of the waist and legs, to avoid inappropriate exercise methods to increase the burden on the joints. For example, patients with low back pain should bend less and twist less, especially not under weight; patients with knee pain should climb less stairs, try not to climb stairs if they can take the elevator, climb less and carry less heavy objects to avoid overloading the knee joint and aggravating the condition. However, joint pain is not at all inactive. Prolonged inactivity can lead to disuse atrophy of the muscles around the knee joint, which is not good for protecting the function of the joint. Swimming, walking, tricycling, and supine straight leg raises are all good methods, but each exercise should not tire you. When the temperature in the air-conditioned room is too low in the cold winter or hot summer, the joints will encounter cold vasoconstriction, poor blood circulation, making the joints stiff and pain worse, so the elderly suffering from osteoarthritis should also pay attention to warmth, the room temperature is more appropriate at about 28 ℃. In addition, it is important for obese patients to reduce their weight for arthritis treatment, and to take more calcium and protein to prevent osteoporosis.
