What is Circumcision

Indications for surgery

If you have a history of recurrent infections due to circumcision or circumcision, or if you have a narrow circumcision that causes poor urination.

(Note: Simple circumcision is not an indication for surgery, so you do not need to perform the surgery!)

Pre-operative preparation

1, foreskin penile head infection should first control the infection, wait for the inflammation to subside before the surgery.

2.Pre-operative skin preparation. (Note: It helps to prevent infection of the surgical incision, so be prepared)

Anesthesia

Local anesthesia or penile cavernous body block anesthesia. Add basic anesthesia for pediatric patients. (Note: Children too small are usually uncooperative and need basic anesthesia. Older children also need to be performed after good parental communication)

Position

The patient is placed in a flat position.

Surgical procedure

Skin disinfection. In the case of prepuce, an antiseptic solution must be injected into the foreskin capsule and re-sterilized after cutting the foreskin. If the foreskin opening is narrow, the foreskin opening can be enlarged with vascular forceps to reveal the head of the penis.

If there is adhesion between the foreskin and the head of the penis, a slotted probe or a mosquito clamp can be used to separate them carefully so that the head of the penis is fully exposed.

At the level of the coronal sulcus, a circular skin incision is made.

The dorsal foreskin is cut longitudinally.

About 1 cm from the coronal sulcus, the inner foreskin plate is circumcised and excess skin is removed.

The superficial dorsal penile vein is easily retracted and should be ligated. A long suture is placed in front of and behind the skin incision for fixing the oil gauze. One to two more stitches are placed between each suture. The oil gauze is folded into a strip around the incision and fixed with a long thread, and the outside is wrapped with a dressing and the penis is held up with a thong band.

(Note: There are many surgical methods, and only one is listed here according to the doctor’s custom. If the foreskin is repeatedly infected with adhesions, the post-operative appearance will be poor)

Post-operative treatment

1.Take ethylene estradiol or injection of estradiol benzoate for 3 days after surgery, and if necessary, take pain medication such as Sanliacin to prevent pain or bleeding caused by penile erection.

2.Avoid contamination of the trauma when urinating, and change the dressing in time if it is wet with urine. (Note: Generally there will be discomfort in the first few days, be psychologically prepared before doing the surgery)
