The presence of haematuria after sex may be caused by damage to the urinary tract or an infection in the lower urinary tract. Frequent and vigorous sex may cause damage to the soft tissues of the urethra and symptoms of haematuria, which may be accompanied by localised tissue swelling. Lower urinary tract infections, on the other hand, may be caused by poor hygiene and infection by bacteria and other pathogenic organisms resulting in haematuria, which may be accompanied by symptoms such as frequent, urgent and painful urination.
