Spinal vascular malformation is a mass of intertwined abnormal vessels of different sizes in or around the spinal cord. (Figure 1) This disease is uncommon, so the misdiagnosis rate and disability rate are high. Clinical manifestations: spinal cord hemorrhage, progressive limb dysfunction, progressive diaphoresis, and progressive neuralgia. Diagnosis: spinal cord MRI.(Figure 2) Selective spinal arteriography is the most fundamental and accurate diagnostic method. Treatment: microneurosurgery to remove the malformed vessels. (Figure 3, 4) Endovascular intervention to embolize the malformed vessel is less invasive, faster recovery, and also creates conditions for surgical resection.
