Patients with pleural disease tend to adopt the affected side of the bed, which can limit the activity of the affected side of the thorax and reduce pain and facilitate compensatory breathing on the healthy side. It is seen in patients with pleurisy and large pleural effusion on one side. Lateral position is an important physical examination position, the patient is lying on the right side, specific action points: trunk lying on the side, the right lower limb straight, the left lower limb flexed on the examination bed. This position can be used for anal reflexes, anal examination, and also for hip and lower limb sensory examination in this position. The lateral position is a common clinical surgical position, often used in neurosurgery, thoracolumbar surgery and hip surgery. The thoracic cavity may be accompanied by fluid accumulation (exudative pleurisy) or no fluid accumulation (dry pleurisy). After the inflammation is controlled, the pleura may return to normal or two layers of pleura may adhere to each other. The main clinical manifestations are chest pain, cough, chest tightness, shortness of breath, and even dyspnea.
