Breastfeeding – it’s all about persistence

Breast milk contains all the nutrients needed for the growth of newborns, and the ratio of the main components such as protein, fat, lactose, inorganic salts, vitamins and water is the easiest for children to digest and absorb, and induces a good appetite to promote the growth and development of children. Breastfeeding not only maintains the balance of food and nutrition, but is also the best way to strengthen the infant’s immunity and resistance to disease. The antibodies, nucleotides and taurine in mother’s colostrum are necessary for the development of the infant’s brain as well as vision. It cleanses the intestinal tract and promotes the elimination of meconium. The immune component of breast milk increases the infant’s resistance’s and prevents diarrhea and respiratory infections. During breastfeeding, the mother can feel changes in the baby’s temperature and detect certain diseases early. Many mothers will have objections again, “I also want to insist on feeding my baby until 6 months, but I always worry that my milk is low and my baby is not full, so I mix and feed formula and gradually give up breastfeeding.” In fact, we have a criterion here, that is, the baby is not gaining pounds, and there is no weight gain. If the weight is continuing to increase, it means that the milk is still enough to eat. Generally speaking, within 3 months of the baby’s life, breast milk secretion of 500ml-750ml a day is enough to eat; from 4 to 6 months, breast milk reaching 600-800ml is also enough. If the mother really has less milk at the beginning, don’t give up easily, but let the baby suck more, which can stimulate the lactation reflex and promote milk secretion, and the milk will gradually increase. Stress and tension can also affect the secretion of milk, especially for mothers who have returned to the workplace after childbirth, it is important to relax and not accumulate too much stress. Nowadays, professional women put more energy into work competition and less into the child rearing process, and once they go to work, they leave their children to the elderly and become “hands-off mothers”, which is actually very detrimental to enhancing the emotions between mother and child. This is the time when women are able to show their maternal care and increase their charm index. Therefore, young mothers should not miss this precious opportunity to communicate and easily give up breastfeeding!
