Prostatitis is the clinical manifestation of pain or discomfort in the pelvic region, abnormal urination, and sexual dysfunction that occurs when the anterior tear glands are irritated by pathogenic bacteria and/or certain non-infectious factors. Clinically, prostatitis is divided into four types, each of which has a different treatment modality. Medication is an important modality in the treatment of prostatitis, but it is not limited to oral medication, but also requires a variety of delivery methods and different treatment methods in conjunction. Type I, Acute Bacterial Prostatitis: Patients should be actively resting in bed, receiving fluids, applying antibacterial medications and drinking plenty of water, and using pain relieving, antispasmodic, and antipyretic medications. Commonly used antibacterial drugs are quinolones, penicillins, cephalosporins, etc. Those with acute urinary retention should apply suprapubic puncture fistula to drain urine, and those with prostate abscesses should be drained via perineal incision. Type II, chronic bacterial prostatitis: oral antibiotics are the mainstay, with erythromycin, doxycycline and other antimicrobials with strong penetrating power preferred. Type IIIA, inflammatory chronic pelvic pain syndrome: oral antibiotics can be given for 2 to 4 weeks, and then the decision to continue antibiotic therapy is based on its efficacy feedback, together with the use of alpha-blockers to improve urinary symptoms and pain, and also phytochemicals, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesics and M-blockers can be chosen to improve urinary symptoms and pain. Type IIIB, non-inflammatory chronic pelvic pain syndrome: Preferred pharmacological treatment with alpha-blockers, botanical agents, NSAIDs and M-blockers. Type IV, asymptomatic prostatitis: no treatment is usually required. The main types of medication used in the treatment of prostatitis are listed above. It should be noted that the above treatment drugs are prescription drugs and because they involve the application of antibiotics, improper use can easily cause drug resistance, so it is not recommended to buy your own medication and must be treated under the guidance of a specialist.
