Talk about “circumcision” and “prepuce”

As a mother or father of a boy, do you pay attention to your child’s reproductive health in the midst of your busy schedule? Do you touch your child’s testicles and “penis” when they are in the shower? It may be that a touch may reveal a major problem, such as one or both testicles are not felt, or the child’s foreskin cannot be turned up to expose the glans.

The former condition is medically called cryptorchidism, which requires surgery; the latter condition is medically called phimosis or prepuce, which also requires surgery. Why should we pay attention to these things? Because it can affect the child’s marital happiness and fertility when the child grows up.

Today we will learn about what is circumcision and prepuce: The commonly referred to circumcision means that the foreskin can still be wrapped around the head of the penis when the penis is fully erect, but in the case of circumcision the foreskin may easily flip up to expose the glans. The foreskin is not only long, but because the ring in front of the foreskin is narrow, the foreskin cannot be turned up and the child is prone to “bulging” when urinating.

The actual circumcision and prepuce need to be surgically treated or not?

Over the years, the common view of most doctors is that it is better to have the foreskin surgically removed. Of course, this view is that circumcision is a direct cause of penile cancer, and in addition can lead to repeated infections. With the advancement of clinical research, it is now believed that if simple long foreskin does not have recurrent infections, the chance of causing penile cancer is not particularly high. Therefore, it is not a bad idea to pay attention to one’s own cleanliness and hygiene and to wash the secretions of the penile prepuce cavity frequently if simple circumcision without recurrent infections occurs.

If the patient has circumcision and recurring glans penis infection, circumcision is also an effective treatment after controlling the acute inflammation. However, circumcision is a must. The narrow ring of foreskin should be removed as early as possible, and if there are adhesions, the foreskin and glans should be separated so that the head of penis can be revealed naturally.

It is believed that the repeated stimulation of prepuce is one of the causes of penile cancer. Common penile cancer is mostly squamous epithelial cancer, which is a medical term that means the nature of cancer that occurs. How does this squamous cancer of the penis form? In general, there is a connection with repeated inflammation and irritation of the penile foreskin. This is one of the reasons why circumcision is recommended for patients with long foreskin and recurrent glansitis.

The so-called circumcision is the removal of the overgrown penile foreskin, including part of the outer and inner plates of the foreskin, and then the circular incision is closed with sutures. It is an open surgery. The operation exposes the head of the penis completely, so that there is no dead space for the foreskin scale and it is less likely to cause local infection of the foreskin. The chances of developing penile cancer will be greatly reduced.

For the sake of your child’s future and happiness, it is recommended that you take your lovely child to the reproductive male department of a regular hospital for consultation when you find the above problem.
