Is purulent tonsillitis serious?

The condition of purulent tonsillitis is one of the more severe inflammatory conditions in acute tonsillitis. Patients often experience severe pain in the throat, making it difficult to swallow and eat, and they may also experience chills, fever, headache, and general weakness. The majority of patients with purulent tonsillitis require intravenous infusion of anti-infection therapy to improve the pain and other symptoms of purulent inflammation faster and better. Some patients may also require the use of hormonal drugs such as dexamethasone in combination with appropriate amounts.
