How to protect our cervical spine?

With the development of technology, modern people are more and more away from activities, more time is spent at the desk, computer desk, so the incidence of cervical spondylosis is increasing year by year. Long hours buried in a flexed neck position will lead to increased pressure and gradual degeneration of the cervical intervertebral disc, followed by neck and shoulder discomfort and other symptoms. If the muscles get less and less opportunity to exercise, muscle strength becomes weaker and weaker until finally the muscles have difficulty maintaining the normal physiological curvature of the cervical vertebrae, then the hospital will usually be told to take a film: cervical curvature straightening or even cervical spine retroflexion and so on. However, life and work must go on, so how to protect our cervical spine and stop or delay the further development of cervical spondylosis has become a concern. To this end, we put forward a few suggestions for reference: 1, sitting correctly: to prevent the occurrence of cervical spondylosis, the most important thing is to sit correctly, so that the neck and shoulders relax and maintain the most comfortable and natural posture? 2, active neck: should be about 1 to 2 hours at work, purposely let the head and neck to the front and back of the left and right several times, the rotation should be gentle, slow, to achieve the maximum range of motion in all directions shall prevail. So that the cervical joint fatigue is relieved. 3, head up and look far away: when long time to see things at close range, especially in a low state, both affect the cervical spine, but also easy to cause visual fatigue, and even induce refractive error. Therefore, whenever the case is too long, should look up to the distance for about half a minute. This can eliminate fatigue, but also conducive to cervical spine health care. 4, the way to sleep: the pillow should not be too high, too hard or too low. The center of the pillow should be slightly concave, the neck should be fully in contact with the pillow and keep slightly back, do not hang. For those who are used to lying on their side, the pillow should be as high as the shoulder. When sleeping, do not lie down and read a book. Do not blow cold wind to the head and neck. 5, avoid trauma: avoid and reduce acute cervical spine injury, such as avoid lifting heavy objects, emergency brakes, etc. 6, cervical spine self traction is a simple and effective therapy, the specific techniques are as follows: cross your fingers together, lift it over your head on the occipital neck; then tilt your head back, and gradually force your hands to the top of the head direction continuous traction 5 ~ 10 seconds, so 3 ~ 4 times in a row can play a role in relieving the pressure of the intervertebral disc. 7. If symptoms such as hand numbness, upper extremity radiating pain, lower extremity weakness, walking drift, etc. occur, it is recommended to visit the outpatient clinic in time to clarify the condition and obtain further treatment plan.
