Many diseases can cause gastroparesis. The causes of gastroparesis are classified as idiopathic or secondary, while idiopathic gastroparesis is a type of gastroparesis of unknown origin, and secondary gastroparesis is mainly caused by diabetes mellitus and medically induced (e.g. drug and surgical induced) factors.
