How can I protect myself from age-related vaginitis in my life?

Age-related vaginitis occurs in about 30% of women after menopause. The reason for this is that after menopause, the level of sex hormones in women’s bodies decreases significantly, causing the PH value in the vagina to rise, the vaginal mucosa to atrophy and thin, and the folds to disappear; and the elastic tissue in the vagina to decrease, causing the vaginal opening to open and the vaginal wall to expand. Therefore, older women should pay special attention to self-care and hygiene to reduce the chances of vaginal infection. Do not wash your vulva with hot water because of itchy vulva, although this can temporarily relieve itchy vulva, but it will make the vulva skin dry and rough, and soon the itch will be more obvious. It is advisable to use warm water when washing the vulva. 2, during the period of illness daily change of underwear, underwear should be loose and comfortable, use cotton fabric production. 3. Do not use drugs indiscriminately when there is discomfort in the vulva. The bacteria that cause senile vaginitis are mostly E. coli, staphylococcus and other miscellaneous bacteria, unlike mycotic vaginitis and trichomoniasis, which are most common in women of childbearing age, so don’t use drugs for mycotic or trichomoniasis indiscriminately, and don’t treat vulvovaginitis as vulvar eczema and use hormone creams indiscriminately, which will backfire. 4, usually pay attention to hygiene, reduce the chance of disease. Do not use soap or various medications to wash your vulva in order to “disinfect and sterilize”. Because the vulvar skin of older women is generally dry and atrophied, often using soap and other irritating cleaning products to wash the vulva, will aggravate the dry skin, causing itching, damage to the vulvar skin. When washing the vulva, you should use warm boiled water, which can add a little salt or vinegar. The toilet paper you choose should have the word “approved”. Change your underwear regularly. Don’t mix your own washing basin and towels with others. 5. Since the vaginal mucosa is thin and the elastic tissue in the vagina is reduced in older women, it is possible to damage the vaginal mucosa and the blood vessels in the mucosa when having sex, so that bacteria can take advantage of the opportunity to invade. Solution: Apply a small amount of grease to the vaginal opening before sex to lubricate the vagina and reduce friction.
