Color blindness, which we call a color vision disorder, is the inability to distinguish between various colors or certain colors in the natural spectrum; color blindness is more common with congenital factors. The prevalence of color blindness is much higher in males than in females. Surveys show that the prevalence of color blindness among Chinese is 7.0‰ for males and 0.5‰ for females. Here we will mainly talk about the relationship between color blindness and heredity. How color blindness is inherited Modern genetic research suggests that color blindness is inherited in a consensual manner. It turns out that the sex chromosomes in human body cells are divided into X chromosomes and Y chromosomes, where XX chromosomes are combined for women and XY chromosomes are combined for men. The gene for human color reproduction is present on the X chromosome, but not on the Y chromosome. According to Mendel’s law of inheritance, since the gene for color blindness is a recessive gene and normal color width is a dominant gene, a recessive gene for color blindness may also be present in a female with normal color vision. If both parents have a normal color vision gene, the offspring will not develop color blindness; however, if both parents have normal color vision and the mother has a recessive color blindness gene present, the offspring may be normal color vision or may develop color blindness. For a female to be colorblind, she must have two recessive genes of the same type at the same time, but the chances of that are very rare after all. In men, there is only one X chromosome, so the chances of developing color blindness are much higher, so it is no wonder that men with color blindness are significantly more likely to be women. Treatment of color blindness Color blindness is a genetic disease but unlike some genetic diseases, it is not a direct threat to life or a physical disability. What we need to do is to avoid a greater impact on the patient’s career choices and physical and mental health. Currently, color blindness can be corrected by using color blindness correction lenses and visual training, so that people who are not able to recognize color blindness can recognize it correctly. The effect is to correct the color vision disorder.
