Sudden deafness can recur. Sudden deafness is an acute sensorineural deafness of unknown specific etiology that occurs within a few hours, up to 72 hours, mostly in one ear. In addition to deafness, it is accompanied by symptoms of high-pitched tinnitus, and in some cases, even vertigo, nausea, and vomiting. Based on the results of pure tone audiometry, sudden deafness is classified into low and medium frequency type, high frequency type, flat type and total deafness type. The conclusion of clinical experience is that the cure rate of sudden deafness is higher in the low and medium frequency types, and the recovery of sudden deafness is worse in the total deafness and high frequency types. Cases of recurrence of sudden deafness have been reported clinically, but the probability is quite low and is predominantly of the low and medium frequency types.
