What to take in the early stages of diabetes

In the early stage of diabetes mellitus, you can take sulfonylureas, gliclazides, biguanides, glitazones, and alpha-glucosidase inhibitors. 1. Sulfonylureas as monotherapy are mainly chosen to be applied to newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus in non-obese patients, when glycemic control is unsatisfactory with diet and exercise therapy. Commonly used drugs include glibenclamide, glipizide, gliclazide and so on. 2. Glargine is mainly used to control postprandial hyperglycemia, commonly used drugs include Repaglinide, Naglinide and Miglinide. 3. Metformin is used as the first-line drug in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and can be used alone or in combination with other drugs, and metformin is widely used nowadays. 4. Glitazones can be used alone or in combination with other hypoglycemic drugs for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, commonly used drugs are rosiglitazone and pioglitazone. 5. α-glucosidase inhibitors are suitable for those who take carbohydrates as the main food component, or those whose fasting blood sugar is normal or not too high but postprandial blood sugar is obviously elevated, commonly used are acarbose, voglibose and miglitol. For the medication regimen for patients with early diabetes, it is recommended to choose according to the patient’s condition and physique under the guidance of a doctor, and not blindly self-medication to avoid adverse effects.
