Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment of mastitis during lactation

  Mastitis is called canker sores in Chinese medicine
  Overview: Canker sores are acute purulent diseases caused by the invasion of heat and toxins into the breast. It is called external canker sores during lactation and internal canker sores during pregnancy and non-lactation.
  I. Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment.
  Depression period – poor milk secretion, painful swollen breasts, lumps either present or absent, skin color not red or slightly red, batch not high or slightly high, or with form of cold and body heat, bitter mouth and dry throat, chest tightness, irritability, poor diet, red tongue with thin yellow coating and string pulse.
  Treatment: Dredging the liver and relieving depression, subduing swelling and promoting lactation
  Radicals: Orange Leaf San plus reduction
  Radix Bupleurum, Pericarpium Citri Reticulata, Psidium Sulcus, Psidium guajava, Orange leaf, Antler cream, Dandelion, Scutellaria, Radix glycyrrhizae.
  Addition and subtraction: for milk accumulation, add Douluo Lu, Wang Bu Liuxing, Lu Lu Lu Tong
  Add raw hawthorn, fried wheat sprout, angelica, red peony, shanjia if the lump is not lactating after childbirth, golden bell peel, fried heliotrope shell if the lump is depressed, gypsum, scutellaria and scutellaria to clear heat if the lump is hot; add Chuanxiong, motherwort and angelica if the dew is not yet complete.
  Pus-forming stage – the lump increases in size, the skin burns, the pain is intense, the central part of the lump is gradually softened, and the finger should be pressed; at the same time, the whole body is hot and cold, the mouth is dry and drinks, irritable and restless, the body is painful and bone painful, the urine is red and constipated.
  Treatment: Clearing heat and detoxifying the toxin, and expelling pus from the lining.
  Formula: Gua Gua Burdock Tang combined with Tuo Pu San plus reduction
  Whole Psidium guajava, Psidium aurantium, Psidium saponaria, Paeonia lactiflora, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Radix Astragali, Arctium lappa, Radix et Rhizoma gingivalis, Dandelion, Loofah, Radix bupleurum, Radix glycyrrhizae.
  Add and subtract: if the lump is hard and tough, add Zha Bei Mu and Curcuma zedoaria to resolve phlegm and eliminate stasis, soften the hardness and disperse the knots; if the pain is severe, add frankincense and myrrh to regulate the qi and blood, and relieve pain; if the pus is thin, add Radix Codonopsis and Chuan Xiong to strengthen the spleen and benefit the qi, and harmonize the yin and toxin; if the thirst is high, add Rhizoma rehmanniae to nourish the yin and generate fluid.
  If the pus does not come out smoothly, the swelling does not subside, the pain does not subside, and the fever does not subside, then the pockets of pus have appeared, and if the pus invades other glandular lobes, then the canker sores become transcystic; sometimes the milk is seen to overflow from the sores or the pus is clear and thin, forming a milk leak, and the closure is slow. This stage is identified as a deficiency of Qi and Blood, and the remaining toxins are not cleared.
  Treatment: Benefit the Qi and nourish the Blood, and harmonize the Ying with the toxin.
  Radicals: Tori Disinfection San plus or minus.
  Basic medicine: Radix Astragali, Radix Codonopsis, Atractylodes Macrocephala, Poria, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong, Semen Aconiti, Saponaria, Dandelion, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Glycyrrhiza Uralensis.
  Add and subtract: for painful lumps after ulceration, add Wang Bu Liuxing and Lonicera to clear residual heat, for dizziness and weakness, add red dates, chicken blood vine to strengthen the spleen and benefit qi and nourish blood, for lack of food and drink, add fried Shen Qu and Hou Pu to promote qi and eliminate stagnation and appetite, for loose stools, add Chinese yam and fried lentils to strengthen the spleen and dispel dampness, for soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, add Eucommia globulus and sequestra to benefit the kidney and strengthen the waist.
  Concurrent septic sepsis – the affected breast is dark red, the swelling spreads rapidly to the surrounding area, the border is unclear, the whole body is accompanied by chills and high fever, headache and chest tightness, irritability, weakness of the limbs, and even faint delirium, spasms, coughing and wheezing, dysthymia, phlegm and blood, etc. The tongue is red and vivid, the coating is yellow and brown, and the pulse is torrential or slippery. This stage is characterized by heat entering the blood of the camp.
  Treatment: Clearing heat and lowering fire, cooling the blood and detoxifying the toxin.
  Remedy: Clear the plague and defeat the toxin, plus reduction
  Basic herbs: Buffalo’s horn, raw gypsum, raw earth, honeysuckle, forsythia, wild chrysanthemum, yellow dandilion, red peony, raw licorice.
  Add and subtract: in case of delirium, add Zixue Dan or Angong Niuhuang Wan; in case of cough and asthma, add fresh bamboo lei, Chuanbei Mu to stop cough and calm asthma; in case of yin damage and dry mouth, add fresh Dendrobium, Xuan Shen, Mai Dong to nourish yin and generate fluid; in case of spasm, add Antelope Horn, Hooked Vine or Zhi Bao Dan to calm the liver and quench the wind, and calm the mind; in case of constipation, add raw rhubarb, Yuan Ming powder to diarrhea and clear the bowels.
  External treatment
  Stagnation period – external application of Jinhuang San, four yellow cream
  Add 30 capsules of Liushenwan, finely grinded, and mix with Vaseline, apply to the affected area and change once a day.
  Dissolve 20g of mannitol into 100ml of boiling water and apply hot compresses to the affected area with thick gauze or cotton pad dipped in the liquid, 3 times a day for 20-30 minutes each time.
  Take 100ml of vinegar and boil it with water and apply hot compresses.
  Nasal plugging method: grind public clove, wrap it in dry cotton ball and plug the nose, 3 times a day for 6 hours each time;
