Can you wash your pubic area with soda?

Soda can be used to wash the vagina, but only when indicated. Daily cleaning with soda is not recommended because the normal vagina is a weakly acidic environment and soda is weakly alkaline, which can upset the pH balance of the vagina and lead to disease. Soda is often used to treat Candida vaginitis because Candida likes to grow in an acidic environment. If you wash with alkaline soda, the local pH will change and the vaginal pH will increase, inhibiting the growth of Candida and relieving clinical symptoms. However, cleaning the vagina with soda does not completely treat Candida vaginitis, but only as an adjunctive therapy. The disease itself should be treated with appropriate medication, such as oral metronidazole or intravaginal clotrimazole plugs. Patients should avoid washing the vagina with any kind of detergent to avoid disturbing the vaginal acid-base balance. In case of perineal itching and leucorrhea abnormalities, patients should go to the hospital for examination and follow the doctor’s prescription after identifying the cause. You can choose to use warm water to wash your pubic area and loose underwear, mainly made of cotton.
