Is the rabies vaccine valid for life after one shot

Typically, the rabies vaccine has a protection period of 6 months and is not effective for life. After a patient is bitten or scratched by a pet, he or she usually needs to receive rabies vaccination, which requires a total of five doses and can effectively prevent rabies within six months. That is, if a patient is bitten by an animal such as a dog again within six months after vaccination, another vaccination is not necessary. If the patient is bitten again within 0.5-1 year after vaccination, the vaccine needs to be given on the day of the bite and on the third day to enhance the preventive effect. If you are bitten again after 1 year of vaccination, you will need to be revaccinated with rabies vaccine. Patients who have been bitten, or who have been bitten again more than six months after vaccination, are advised to go to the hospital for vaccination in a timely manner to avoid unnecessary consequences. In addition, during the vaccination period, try to quit smoking and drinking and eat less spicy and irritating food to avoid allergic reactions.
