How drug-induced kidney injury is treated

The treatment of drug-induced kidney injury includes timely discontinuation of the suspected drug, symptomatic supportive therapy, and hormonal and or immunosuppressive therapy according to the type of renal pathology. 1. Discontinuation of suspected drugs: first of all, stop using related drugs or suspected drugs, and avoid using the same kind of drugs again. 2. Symptomatic supportive treatment: including correcting water, electrolyte and acid-base balance disorders, controlling infection, hypertension and anemia and other symptomatic treatments. 3. Hormone and or immunosuppressant treatment: hormone such as prednisone, immunosuppressant such as tacrolimus. Such drugs should be determined on the basis of renal biopsy pathology as far as possible, and should be adjusted individually after comprehensive assessment of the patient’s response to treatment, the occurrence of side effects and other advantages and disadvantages. In case of drug-induced renal injury, one should go to the hospital in time and standardize the treatment under the guidance of a professional doctor.
