How do we protect the cervical spine in winter?

With the onset of winter, the weather is gradually getting colder and many diseases are occurring, and cervical spondylosis is no exception. Winter is the most frequent period of cervical spondylosis, so in winter we must pay attention to the cervical spine warmth, so as to avoid cervical spondylosis. So how to protect the cervical spine in winter? For patients with cervical spondylosis, the most important thing to do in winter is to keep the neck warm. Don’t let your neck freeze even if it’s cold. Especially for those who have a bad cervical spine, cold air can lead to poor blood circulation in the neck muscles and even stiffness, soreness and spasm. Therefore, for cervical spine patients, winter must pay attention to the neck warmth. Second, the pillow is too high and too low will have an impact on the cervical spine, long-term use can lead to neck strain. But the specific size also depends on the physiological characteristics of each person, especially the physiological curvature of the neck. The elasticity of a good sleeping pillow is also moderate. Because the hard sleeping pillow will make the contact area of the sleeping pillow and the neck shrink, the pressure increases, feel uncomfortable; but if the sleeping pillow is too soft, it is difficult to maintain a certain height, the neck muscle is easy to fatigue, is also not conducive to sleep, and head trapped in it, will affect blood circulation. In winter, in addition to doing these two points, cervical spine patients can also play badminton activities. The head is often angled back, and the swinging action can drive the shoulder and neck muscles to get exercise at the same time. Therefore, playing badminton is very suitable for cervical spine patients to carry out the exercise of neck function. Cervical spondylosis, because of its poor stability, even after the cure, its stability also need – time to recover, consolidation. During this period, many factors, such as overexertion, sudden turning back, and neck injury caused by sudden stopping in a car, can easily cause a recurrence of cervical spondylosis. Therefore, cervical spine patients need to pay attention.
