What should I do in the acute phase of Achilles tendinitis?

Patients in the acute stage should rest in bed, keep the Achilles tendon area stable and avoid training and exercise to prevent irritation of the Achilles tendon to further aggravate the injury. Patients with severe pain and swelling of the Achilles tendon can be relieved by applying ice packs and walking around with the heel of the shoe elevated to reduce the load on the Achilles tendon.
