Causes and treatment of skin allergy
In the process of transition from winter to spring, the change of seasons can easily cause the phenomenon of “spring allergy”.
I. What is spring allergy?
In the process of transition from winter to spring, the seasons alternate, on the one hand, the temperature rises quickly, and on the other hand, the cold and warm air are frequently exchanged. A considerable number of women have a very concentrated skin reaction, redness, rash, dryness, peeling, some prickly itch, etc., which we call the “spring allergy” phenomenon.
Second, the causes of the phenomenon of spring allergy
Many women describe this phenomenon by saying, “Oh my, I’m allergic!” .”. However, when asked for details, such as whether they have recently changed any skin care products or been exposed to any allergens, they find that there is nothing unusual. After tracing their skin care habits and understanding their skin conditions in other seasons, we found that most people are not allergic, but their skin barrier function has not been able to adapt to the environmental stresses brought about by the change of seasons. True allergies would have been a minority of a minority of people.
Changes in the skin and environmental stress
People have the ability to adapt to environmental changes, but there is always a lag time in response. It is well established that the oil secreted by the skin (sebum) and the intercellular matrix (especially ceramides) together form the chemical barrier of the skin. When they are reduced, the skin barrier will weaken.
In winter, as the temperature drops, sebum production decreases significantly and lipid components of the epidermis, including ceramides, one type of which is called ceramide linoleate, decrease significantly, leaving the skin barrier in a more fragile state and less protective against the outside world.
With the arrival of spring, at least the following changes will have a direct impact on skin irritation.
1. The intensity of sunlight radiation (especially ultraviolet and infrared rays) will rise by 50 percent within two weeks, which will greatly increase the irritation and damage to the skin;
2, the temperature rises and sometimes suddenly decreases, fluctuating violently. When hot so that capillary expansion, skin moisture loss accelerated; cold when the body in order to maintain blood supply and body temperature, blood vessels will also compensatory expansion, vascular permeability enhanced (immune cells more active);
3. Insufficient protection: the protective winter clothing is removed, and no umbrella or hat is worn as in winter (but the UV level has increased to about twice that of winter, or half that of summer);
4. Bacteria and other organisms become active, plants bloom, potential allergens in the air such as pollen, plant and animal dust increase, and at this time the skin barrier function is weaker, the immune system is active, and the skin allergy rate increases.
Prevention and treatment of spring allergy
For the phenomenon of spring allergy, in general, prevention should be the main focus, supplemented by treatment.
Eat more fruits and vegetables and drink water; keep a positive and optimistic attitude; and pay attention to sun protection by hydrating frequently.
At the same time, you can properly choose some mild nature of skin care products, can help protect the skin from external environmental aggressions, quickly soothe the skin, so that the skin feels comfortable and balanced.
Four, spring allergy phenomenon mask warm tips
1, before applying the mask must use makeup remover oil to clean the remaining makeup or dust on the face! Then use cleansing milk to clean the face, otherwise the pores of the dirty things easy to induce acne.
2, the skin in an excessively dry and dehydrated state, the use of hydrating superb mask, the skin in large doses to absorb water, prone to emergency irritation, acne, just stop using a few days, and then continuous use.
3, sensitive skin, in the alternate seasons, or when changing brands, due to weak skin adaptability, prone to replacement-type acne, pause a few days, and then continue to use.
Differentiation and prevention of allergies
Allergy and sensitivity are two different things. Acquired sensitivity is mainly caused by a decrease in skin barrier function, while allergy is a metamorphic reaction involving the immune system.
Although the symptoms of both are superficially similar, the mechanisms by which they occur are completely different. Therefore, when spring allergy occurs, please first review your skin care methods to see if the skin itself is damaged due to improper skin care and is in a thin, transparent, red and sensitive condition, such as washing the face will feel tingling, and after washing the pain disappears, it is a “simple irritation” caused by skin fragility, not allergy. As long as you stop these irritating and damaging methods, simplify your skin care and pay attention to protection, it is easy to get relief, but it takes 3 months or even a year to fully repair, when the skin repair is complete, tolerance increases, and seasonal changes will not cause spring allergies.
If your own skin condition is healthy and intact, and you are not allergic or have little history of allergies, consider whether it is an allergy.
The most important way to deal with allergies is to identify the allergen based on suspected factors and avoid re-exposure. Generally, after eliminating the allergen, the symptoms will disappear automatically in a relatively short time. Of course, prolonged and persistent allergies can also damage the skin and eventually turn into sensitive skin.
Emergency measures after allergies or sensitivities
For both allergies and sensitivities, the following methods can be used.
① Stop using suspicious cosmetics, irritating methods, and products.
② Avoid stimulation, such as hot, cold, acidic, alkaline wind friction sunlight and excessive cleansing.
③ use chamomile puree, cactus, licorice, horsetail, mung bean and other extract ingredients to soothe and calm, if necessary, seek medical help and use anti-inflammatory drugs.
④After the symptoms have disappeared for a month or two, do a test with the product to distinguish whether it is an allergy or simple irritation to avoid future re-exposure.
If it is an allergy, pay attention to avoid allergy-causing products, do not believe in “detoxification” and other claims, and do not feel the pain of money and insist on using it up.
If you are allergic, use simple repair products with simple ingredients and strengthen your daily care to let your skin gradually return to normal.
