Cadmium rice, generally refers to rice with excessive levels of cadmium. Industrial production can discharge cadmium into the environment through wastewater, and if wastewater is used to irrigate rice, it can cause cadmium levels in rice to exceed the standard. Long-term consumption of food containing cadmium by humans can cause painful diseases (i.e. bone pain disease).
