Ordinary table salt is not recommended for washing the face. For conditions such as inflammation or oozing reactions on the face, cold compresses can be applied with physiological saline. Washing your face with common edible salt can damage skin tissue, especially for people with sensitive skin types. Since the main component of common salt is sodium chloride, washing the face may cause aging of the stratum corneum and deepen the degree of keratinization, while some people will also experience pigmentation of the epidermis after washing the face with edible salt. In addition, common table salt contains certain iodine which has obvious photosensitivity and can cause solar dermatitis. Therefore, there is no scientific basis for using common table salt to wash your face, and it is also likely to be counterproductive. It is recommended that normal people wash their faces with a face wash or cleanser, and for those who have a need to remove mites, they can also use sulfur soap to wash their faces properly.
