How long does it usually take to recover from a severe lung infection that turns white?

  The recovery time after severe lung infection turning white is related to its pathogen, physical quality and other factors and cannot be generalized.  Whitening of the lungs refers to the appearance of increased density on imaging chest films and lung CT. Usually bacterial, viral, and other pathogenic infections, tuberculosis, and tumors can cause whitening of the lungs.
