The incubation period of bowel cancer is usually several years

The latent period of bowel cancer, i.e. the formation time of bowel cancer, is usually 5-6 years, and may be 10 years or even longer for some patients with better health. Bowel cancer is a chronic process of polyps caused by long-term chronic inflammatory irritation, which in turn induces bowel cancer, and it occurs in middle-aged and elderly patients. When patients have increased frequency of stool, mucus in stool or change in stool properties, they should promptly consult the anorectal department of the nearest hospital for colonoscopy to clarify whether there is intestinal tumor. For simple intestinal polyps, they should be removed surgically as soon as possible, and the colonoscopy should be reviewed regularly after surgery to avoid their recurrence. For middle-aged and elderly people over 50 years old, they should have regular medical checkups for early detection so as to avoid progressing to intestinal cancer period which is difficult to treat. In addition, the formation of intestinal cancer is mostly related to diet, so we should pay attention to a light diet and avoid spicy and irritating foods in general.
