Is dry stools followed by foamy stools bowel cancer?

Patients presenting with bowel movements that are dry and then loose and foamy may be related to slow bowel movement, which has little correlation with bowel cancer. In the early stage of bowel cancer, there are mostly no specific symptoms, and the shape of stool will change, such as the appearance of grooves in the stool and thinning of stool. As the disease progresses, the tumor causes narrowing of intestinal lumen space, and changes in stool properties will occur. However, if the stool is dry and then thin and foamy, it is considered to be related to the slow peristalsis of the intestines. In the early stage, the stools are not discharged in time, and the internal water is over-absorbed, resulting in dry stools. However, in the later stage, when the intestinal peristalsis is accelerated, the subsequent water is discharged without being absorbed, and the phenomenon of dry stools followed by scanty and foamy stools will occur. It is recommended that the patient consult the gastroenterology department, can improve the abdominal CT or colonoscopy to discharge organic lesions, and then follow the doctor’s instructions to give mosapride, itopride and other drugs to promote gastrointestinal dynamics.
