What are the manifestations of pelvic inflammatory disease?

  What we commonly call pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), medically known as pelvic inflammatory disease, refers to infectious diseases of the upper female reproductive tract and its surrounding tissues. It mainly includes endometritis, tubal inflammation, tubo-ovarian abscess, and pelvic peritonitis. As a common gynecological disease, it can not only affect women’s health and normal life, but also affect women’s fertility and cause female infertility. So, how to identify pelvic inflammatory disease early through the symptoms and what are the symptoms of pelvic inflammatory disease?  The symptoms of pelvic inflammatory disease can vary depending on the severity and extent of the inflammation. The most common symptoms are the following: 1. lower abdominal cramps Due to the adhesions between the reproductive organs formed by chronic inflammation and pelvic congestion, there are different degrees of lower abdominal cramps, pains and lumbosacral aches, pains are mostly continuous, this pain will intensify after sex and before and after menstruation.  2. Menstrual abnormalities Inflammation of the endometrium often results in increased leucorrhea, menstrual disorders, heavy menstrual bleeding and dysmenorrhea due to endometrial congestion and ulceration. If the ovarian function is damaged, menstrual disorders may also occur.  3. Systemic symptoms In severe cases, systemic symptoms such as chills, high fever, headache and lack of appetite may appear. Due to the long duration of the disease, some patients may have symptoms of neurasthenia, such as mental discomfort, body discomfort, insomnia, etc.  4. Infertility and ectopic pregnancy Pelvic inflammatory disease can lead to adhesions and obstruction of the fallopian tubes, resulting in infertility and ectopic pregnancy. The mucosa and cilia in the tubal lumen may also be affected by inflammation and lack good egg or fertilized egg transport functions, resulting in infertility. Pelvic inflammatory disease is one of the common causes among patients with primary infertility.
