Celine Dion, the singer of the song “Titanic”, has been revealed to be pregnant with twins after another successful artificial insemination, with the 42-year-old revealing through the media that she received acupuncture treatment from a Chinese medicine practitioner. It was later revealed that a Canadian acupuncturist had been treating Celine Dion daily with body and ear acupuncture to help her conceive. According to a study conducted by the Canadian Center for Reproductive Medicine, acupuncture before and after embryo transfer can enhance the blood supply to the ovaries and uterus, improve the number and quality of eggs, and increase the success rate of conception by 30% to 40%. In April 2002, the authoritative “Fertility and Infertility” magazine sponsored by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine published the research report of Poros, a famous German IVF expert, who conducted an experiment on 160 women who underwent IVF surgery with acupuncture to help them conceive. The results were that o the IVF success rate of women who received acupuncture for pregnancy was 42.5% o while the IVF success rate of women who did not receive acupuncture was only 26.3%. This study showed that after using acupuncture to help women undergoing IVF procedures, their success rate in getting pregnant increased by more than fifty percent. In his study, Poros states with great certainty that “acupuncture became a useful tool to improve pregnancy before and after women underwent assisted reproductive technologies.”
